personal statement -

iI believe that improvisation is about exposing the process of creation in present time. 

It is important for me to share a vivid soft and open dance space, to create space for growth and joy, to invite in magic and welcome the beauty of the unknown.

Bio -

A dancer, improviser, a choreographer and an interdisciplinary performance artist from Israel. 

A teachers of CI, improvisation & Qigong. 

Was trained in dance in Israel and in Holland 

Holds a B.Arch in Architecture, from 'Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design' Jerusalem.

Aharona is involved in teaching and performing CI and improvisation since 2005, teaches classes and workshops in Israel and abroad. holds a yearly course in ensemble work and improvisation as performance art. 

Her teaching influenced by visual arts and draws on various dance & somatic practices as dance release technique, CI, BMC, Improvisation, Feldenkrais, Ideokinesis, eastern martial arts and meditation practices. 

She was invited to teach in international festivals in Israel, Germany, Spain, Canada and in the USA.

As a dancer, aharona performed both solos works as well as collaborated with various artists in various spaces, some of them are Emmanuel Grivet (RF), Pauline de Groot (NL), Rob List (NL), BEWTH Co‪. (NL), Ina Stockem (Germany), Felix Ruckert (Germany), Yumuko Yoshioa (Germany),‪ Karl Frost (USA)  Sharona Florsheim (IL).

She's working as a free-lance choreographer presenting her work in Israel and abroad since 2003. 

Her choreographic work relates to an intimate research on the body, movement exploration and a strong sensibility to social and political themes. She brings together dance, theater and text in a form of set material combine with improvised scores. With a particular interest in interactive multidisciplinary performances, she often makes atypical projects, using non-theatrical spaces, of which she combine both her understanding of space as an architect and her skills as a performer. she had been presenting her work in Israel and abroad in festival and dance venues in Holland, Germany, Poland, Russia, Canada and USA.

Aharona is involve in organising CI events in the community as jams, festivals and Dance Labs since many years. 

some of the initiatives she was part of are: co-establish ACIL (Amsterdam CI laboratory) in 2005, Initiated & Co-organized 'CI36 Amsterdam' in 2008, Co-organizing the Israeli CI festival during 2009-2012, initiated 'The meeting' - independent improvisation performance nights of music and dance in Tel-aviv on 2010, created the 'Double Jam' in Tel-aviv - a monthly explorative event ofer both musicians and dancers a space to improvise together through 2012-2013.
