Israeli Contact Festival
| 2008 * 2008 * 2008 what's new? 16 Dec 2008 - 3 Jan 2009 Shalom to all dancing friends from around the world! The ICF08 will happen for the 7th time this winter. This will be a special year for us, as we have transformed the festival into a true community event which is owned and operated by the Israeli CI community. Dates: This year most of the festival is during Christmas vacation. In order to help you people plan your x-mas vacation ahead of time this year we start the registration earlier – see below. Week 1: Tour (16-20 Dec)
5 days of dancing and traveling around Israel, exploring nature, connecting with
local dance communities and warming up for the festival. Week 2: Greenhouse (23-27 Dec)
5 days in our improvised dance village in the north of Israel: Full dance program,
beautiful nature around and a warm family atmosphere. Week 3: City (30 Dec – 3 Jan 2009)
A week of master-classes, workshops, jams and performances in Tel-Aviv.
Meet this buzzing sea-side CI community. Special Early Registration is now open! If you are intending to come and join us in one or more of the festival activities this year – tour, greenhouse and city - please let us know by replying to this e-mail and telling us in which parts of the festival you intend to participate. Please add your full name, country, phone numbers and email. The festival will keep your place until the end of September. From 15 of September you will be asked to pay for the festival, and so you can make your final decision between now and the end of September. From the 1st of October, registration will open for all and we won't keep the place for those who wouldn't have paid by then. As for the price, it will be set by September.

The Israeli Contact Improvisation Festival is the annual celebration of the Israeli CI community and a meeting with teachers and dancers from around the world. The festival spans 3 weeks during which we will meet in different locations to dance, to play, to learn, and to get to know each other. You can join all 3 weeks or any 1 or 2 of them. please take a few minutes to discover how the festival is organized and what's in it.

23-27/11/07 Around Israel Join us for 5 magical days on the road, as we visit Jerusalem and the amazing natural treasures of the desert. We will meet local dance communities and enjoy diverse workshops and jams.

Week 2: Contact in the City
29/11/07- 3/12/07 Tel-Aviv During 5 days we will celebrate Contact improvisation in all its forms and colors: 9 evening classes - Tasting the diversity and range of CI 7 workshops of different lengths - going deeper with one teacher and one group 3 evening jams – experimenting, playing, expressing and meeting 1 Big Jam on the last day – A gathering of celebration, including performances, a warmup and a long farewell jam.

6-10/12/07, Misgav, Lower Galilee 5 days of dance and people in a secluded countryside location, with fresh vegetarian food and communal sleep. Program includes 2 classes each day, intensives, 1-on-1 sessions, long jams every night, performances, outdoor dancing and much more.

Travel and Accomodation
European and USA citizens can receive a tourist Visa on arrival in Ben-Gurion, Israel’s only international airport. Try to book your tickets in advance as flights are busy around Christmas and New Year.
During the Greenhouse and the Tour accommodation is provided. For Tel-Aviv we selected for you several good hostels that offer discount for festival participants.

A note on "the situation" in Israel
You may have seen pictures from Israel on TV or in the newspapers that appear like a raging battle zone, so you may be asking yourself "Do I realy want to go there?" Here in Israel, everyday life goes on normally: We work, study etc. The news is often difficult, but that's why it is important to keep dancing! If you have questions regarding safety, or the political situation please feel free to contact us at any time.
